College Radio Day 2022: Voices For Peace

Carson Brooke

For this year's College Radio Day, the theme is "Voices For Peace," specifically relating to the war in Ukraine. I had people send in recordings of them talking about their favorite peace / anti-war related songs, and I play both the recordings and songs on today's episode. I also play music from the Russian group увула (Uvula) who has spoken out against the war, as well as some Ukrainian Funk, plus my favorite peace related song.

Rest in peace Coolio.

Songs played in this episode:
Gangsta's Paradise - Coolio
Pastime Paradise - Stevie Wonder
Why Can't We Be Friends? - War
Landslide (Fleetwood Mac cover) - The Chicks
Yes We Can Can - Allen Toussaint
White People for Peace - Against Me!
Электрический ток (Electric Current)-увула (Uvula)
VIA Vodograï - ВИА  Водограй
Save the Children - Gil Scott-Heron
Children Of The Grave - Black Sabbath

^These last two songs both talk about having to strive for peace because it's not fair for the children of tomorrow to be affected by our problems of today. Black Sabbath takes it a step further however, and relates it specifically to atomic war

(THIS IS A RECORDING FROM WVCW RADIO. If you like a song and want to listen to it again, please stream it directly from the artist instead of listening through this episode so they can get paid. I don't own the rights to any of these songs, and the goal of this project is to discover new music for you all and myself. I'm not trying to monetize off other peoples music in any way)
